Program Descriptions

Registration is now open for our Summer Music Camps. This is 13th summer the Southwest Music Academy has presented these popular programs to the community's aspiring music students.

The Academy began in 2008 as an off-shoot of the very popular Sands Band Camp which began more than 40 years ago. Sands began as a way for all the middle school band directors to offer new band students a jump start on the school year and to allow older students to play during the break. And we’re continuing this great tradition!

We are offering two summer camps: middle school band with an optional jazz studies class and middle school orchestra.

The orchestra camp takes place at Vista Middle School, 4465 Elks Dr (map). Band camp is located at Sierra Middle School, 1700 Spruce Ave (map). Second-, third- and fourth-year band and orchestra students must bring their instruments to camp.
